Ucore Rare Metals Inc.: Dostal’s Paper on Bokan Mineralization Accepted by Leading International Journal
August 11, 2014 (Source: Marketwired) — Ucore Rare Metals Inc (TSX VENTURE:UCU)(OTCQX:UURAF) (“Ucore” or “the Company”) is pleased to announce that the paper ‘The Early Jurassic Bokan Mountain granite complex (southeastern Alaska): Geochemistry, petrogenesis and rare-metal mineralization‘ has been published by Elsevier in the journal Lithos (the “Paper”). ‘Elsevier’ is a world leading provider of academic information and ‘Lithos’ is the leading international English language journal publishing original research papers on mineralogy, petrology and geochemistry.
The Paper was authored by a three person team including Dr. Jaroslav Dostal, Department of Geology, Saint Mary’s University, Halifax and a member of Ucore’s Board of Directors; Dr. Daniel Kontak, Department of Earth Sciences, Laurentian University, Sudbury; and Dr. Susan Karl, U.S. Geological Survey, Alaska Science Centre, Anchorage. “We’re pleased to see that information on the significant rare earth element mineralization at Bokan continues to be furthered in the most advanced academic arenas,” said Jim McKenzie, President and CEO of Ucore. “We congratulate Dr. Dostal and his colleagues for their contribution to the knowledge of geochemistry and petrology at Bokan, and we’re delighted to have such an accomplished researcher as Dr. Dostal serve as a Director of Ucore. This paper, along with current research being conducted by the USGS, complements studies of Bokan geology dating back several decades, and contributing to its reputation as one of the most academically advanced and understood heavy rare earth deposits outside of China.”
Dr. Dostal has published more than 250 scientific papers and is the recipient of the 2005 Career Achievement Award of the Volcanology and Igneous Petrology Division of the Geological Association of Canada, and the 2007 Gesner Medal for Distinguished Scientist of the Atlantic Geoscience Society.
