About John Tumazos Very Independent Research, LLC
A registered as an investment advisor in the State of NJ. We have 30-odd institutional clients in the U.S. and Canada. We do fundamental research on commodities markets and common stocks in the metals, fertilizer and forest products sectors. For example, we typically publish 20 investment reports per month and travel for research each month often travelling abroad. We formed our company in 2007 when the former Prudential Equities Group shut down. We are regulated like a money manager, but our business is to advise active money managers and we also manage a few accounts. We are not a broker-dealer, but deliver the same basic research services that we had since 1981 as an employee at major brokerage firms. In our business model we sell our research direct payments and deliver it via email and our www.veryindependentresearch.com web site. Our clients pay us via direct checks, wire transfer, commission sharing agreements or soft dollar payments. We have limited distribution and depend on our existing reputation, existing relationships and “word of mouth.” We have provided corporate advisory services to seven small emerging mining companies since inception.

That’s not independent enough for me. I’m waiting for the Very, Very (to the max) Independent Research Metals & Mining Conference.

    From the website:
“JTVIR provides independent research reports to institutional clients for fixed and subscription fees. JTVIR’s affiliate, JTVIO, provides advisory services to entities in connection with financing deals, mergers and acquisitions, mine services, valuations, fairness opinions, strategy, corporate services and capital raising. For its advisory services, JTVIO may be compensated up to a year after the termination of JTVIO’s services or advisory agreement. It is JTVIR’s policy not to provide research reports or updates to such reports for any entity that has engaged JTVIO’s services.”

That doesn’t sound very independent to me. Perhaps the firm issues favorable research in a company in the hopes of securing advisory services, and if it does, it can cease updating research reports on that company. Veritas Bob does not like hypocrisy. Perhaps there would be nothing wrong with what it does, if it didn’t call itself very very independent!! By doing so, they have lost all possible credibility with me.

Sorry, but this amounts to spam. Some bloke intends to give a talk at a conference I’ve never heard of about a mildly interesting HRE play with a REE concentration well under 0.1% by weight.
Nice RE distribution but Nora Karr’s is a bit better at 10x the grade.
Post the talk when it’s delivered and I MIGHT be interested.

Let’s be respectful Jan please. We post news releases from all of the REE companies in the world. Often companies put out news releases on speaking at events. As for using this news release to promote Tasman, please note that we did an excellent original article less than a week and a half ago that has sustained great visitor traction. If you missed it, then check it out and let me know what you think: Tasman Metals’ Norra Kärr HREE Project: advancing one of the most significant dysprosium deposits in the world – InvestorIntel http://shar.es/E2cSJ

If memory serves me correctly, John Tumazos was(is?) a director in TRER. I also recall him being the chairman? Tracy, is this correct?

Why yes, John Tumazos was a director of TRER, see http://trer.com/_resources/uploads/2012/08/FINAL-PR-New-CEO-Board-Members.pdf . Exactly how independent is Mr. Tumazos’ research with a company on whose Board of Dorectors he served presenting at his very independent conference?

And indeed Chairman of the Board. From press release above “… the addition of five new members to its board of directors: Mr. John C.Tumazos, CFA, as non-executive chairman…”

Honestly, if I heap leached all the dirt in my back yard, I’d come up with a higher REO% than they’ve got in Texas. yikes.

The pinnacle of independence: Chairman of the Board makes presentation at very independent conference run by the same guy.
