Graphite mining company, Plumbago, appoints Dr. Ian Flint to Board

(“Plumbago”) announced today that Dr. Ian Flint has been appointed to the company’s board of directors, effective immediately. Dr. Flint has a long and distinguished career in the mining industry and will assist Plumbago in developing its Sri Lankan graphite production.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Dr. Flint to Plumbago’s board of directors,” said Jody Lenihan, a spokesperson for Plumbago. “Dr. Flint has an unmatched expertise in graphite mining and processing, which will help guide the Company as it continues to innovate and transform.”

Dr. Flint brings more than 30 years of experience in graphite mining. His areas of expertise include: mineral processing, equipment selection, risk analysis, project management, and property evaluation. He’s also been closely involved in the testing and supervision of graphite separations and purification including: graphite suitable for salt-exfoliated graphite; graphite sheet; and the creation of ultra-pure graphite for batteries and graphene.

“It’s a pleasure to join Plumbago in the development of its Sri Lankan graphite properties,” said Dr. Flint. “It’s a unique opportunity because Sri Lankan graphite is considered the worldwide standard.”

Most notably Dr. Flint offers specialized expertise in the development of applications and processes including: the design of column-flotation cells; mineral processing circuit-design installations and commissioning; and has commercialized various innovations in equipment used to extract and process graphite.

Over time Plumbago plans to move into the manufacturing of graphite, Dr. Flint’s unique knowledge will be extremely beneficial in achieving this objective.

Plumbago Refining Corp. is a privately-owned company currently exploring and developing graphite mines in proven resource jurisdictions in Sri Lanka. It holds a land package constituting 114-one-square-kilometre grids containing proven vein graphite deposits. The unique, and comparatively higher margin, vein deposits currently make-up less than 1% of the world graphite production. Meanwhile the exploration grids represent the majority of known graphite resources in Sri Lanka. The relevant areas in which these grids reside have.
