Energoprom Group and Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sign Cooperation Agreement

August 30, 2013 — The Corporate R&D Center of the ENERGOPROM Group and the leading research institute in the field of carbon materials chemistry of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences have signed a cooperation agreement. Within the framework of the agreement, tests of low-temperature graphitization technology which also prevents the discharge of carcinogenic products, including benzpyrene, will be carried out at the site of the Novosibirsk Electrode Plant.

Anatoly Matveyev, Director of the Corporate R&D Center: “This agreement is one of the steps in integrating the R&D Division of the ENERGOPROM Group into the high-tech industry in Russia and abroad, as well as the building up the Company’s intellectual property. During the implementation of the joint project the possibilities of low-temperature graphitization technology for industrial use will be assessed with the purpose of increasing energy-efficiency of the process of artificial graphite production at the stage of graphitization. This technology which also prevents the discharge of carcinogenic products in the manufacturing of artificial graphite, will further strengthen the environmental safety at the Company’s plants.”
