I recently started as the Senior Editor for InvestorIntel’s Graphite & Graphene sector. My first piece was the Month-in-Review, which had the most views of any article last week on InvestorIntel. Thank you, thank you and thank you! Seriously, we believe that the increased interest and the higher-than-usual numbers for this article are reflective of the renewed and inspired interest in what we perceive to be one of the hottest sectors. That said, in reviewing this last week’s numbers, it seems many were at their cottages as our members performance was flat for the week — +0.68%.

So Tracy challenged me to become a graphene expert in 72 hours or less and I have to say I have accepted this challenge with zealous enthusiasm. It helped that Gary Economo, President and CEO of Focus Graphite (TSXV: FMS | OTCQX: FCSMF), dropped by the editorial offices, as Focus owns Grafoid Inc. where he is also the President and CEO. Grafoid is a graphene research, development and investment company that partners with leading universities, government laboratories and corporations to commercialize graphene applications and plans to be a commercial leader in the coming “graphene revolution.” Grafoid has a proprietary technology to extract graphene directly from graphite ore without going through harsh extraction processes that damage the unique characteristics of graphene.

Flinders Resources Ltd. (TSXV: FDR) announced an update on the preliminary economic assessment (PEA) on its Woxna Graphite Project in Sweden yesterday and in July they were up +79.22%.

The biggest uptick for the week was Lomiko Metals Inc. (TSXV: LMR | OTCQX: LMRMF) — shares increased +19.27% in the US. Lomiko’s latest news release was less than 6 weeks when Lomiko announced it had closed a $500,000 flow-through private placement. The funds are being utilized for exploration purposes on the company’s Quatre Milles Graphite property in Brunet Township, Quebec.

Noticed that Asher posted Berkwood Resources Ltd.’s (TSXV: BKR) latest investor presentation and company fact sheet (just click on the highlighted links).

Here are last week’s numbers for your review:

Great piece on “Graphene” and I am fascinated by new uses for the wondrous element Carbon. If you like Buckminster Fuller you call a certain allotrope of carbon a Buckyball. Even though all allotropes have the same molecular formula, C, the pseudo 2D structure of Graphene is amazingly beautiful! https://www.google.ca/search?q=molecular+structure+of+graphene&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=tn8LUuu0HcyAygGS4YGICQ&sqi=2&ved=0CEIQsAQ&biw=1360&bih=667
Gary Economo, CEO of Focus Graphite, is a dynamic visionary for uses of Graphene, and I look forward to learning more about these materials soon.
