Pacific North West Capital Corp. (TSXV: PFN | OTCQB: PAWEF) has found the secret sauce for success.

All things being equal and assuming that the mining sector is not treading water in the doldrums, value investors are hard pressed to predict the success of companies. History is replete of people who thought they could predict the future. Unfortunately, we tend to forget those prognosticators.

Mr. Harry Barr, Chairman and CEO, has found a complex formula for success, like a football coach putting together a winning team with the right players with the right credentials.

Pacific North West Capital is a mineral exploration company, focused on the Discovery, Exploration and Development of one of Canada’s largest primary Platinum Group Metals (PGM) deposits, the River Valley PGM Project, located in the Sudbury region of Northern Ontario.

The Company also has a Lithium Division, with five lithium projects.

The company’s operating philosophy is to be a Project Generator, Explorer and Project Operator, with the objective of Option/Joint Venturing its projects, with major and junior mining companies, through to production.

Pacific North West Capital Corp. is a member of the International Metals Group of Companies.

Mr. Barr, a farm boy from the Ottawa Valley, has made a career churning out winning football teams.

Mr. Barr has created shareholder value by building teams to assist him in corporate finance, project acquisition, and exploration and development of mineral projects in 9 countries and 3 continents. As a CEO, he has guided his management teams to complete over 100 option joint venture agreements with major, mid-tier, and junior mining companies.

Mr. Barr has over 30 years of success in the mining industry, founding Freegold Ventures Limited (retired Oct 2007), CanAlaska Uranium Ltd. (retired June 2007), Pacific North West Capital Corp. (currently President and CEO), and Fire River Gold Corp. (retired March 2011).

Over the last 15 years, Mr. Barr has acted in various management capacities for El Nino Ventures Inc. (currently Chairman and CEO), and Next Gen Metals Inc. (currently President and CEO) and Southern Sun Minerals (currently Chairman).

Mr. Barr is on the Board of Directors of Pacific North West Capital, El Nino Ventures Inc., Next Gen Metals Inc., Southern Sun Minerals Inc. and Copper Reef Mining Corp.

While this kind of success is worth emulating, it poses a fundamental challenge to the faulty perception that success can be ascribed to single individuals: There is nothing more erroneous to think that a great business is only one person.

The CEOs of great businesses know how to surround themselves with competent people with perfect understanding of their accountabilities. In other words, they know precisely which bucks stop at their desk.

The training we get from colleges and universities is not meant to teach us to work in teams. Our educational system teaches us to compete with our peers to get ahead with better grades. We are taught to compete, not collaborate.

I had the pleasure of spending some time with Mr Barr. Very quickly I learnt that he is the ultimate collaborator. This is why, given the right market conditions for the mining sector, I have great hopes for Pacific North West Capital Corp.
