African Barrick Gold PLC: Appointment of Chief Financial Officer
September 19, 2013 (Source: African Barrick Gold) — ABG is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Wray as Chief Financial Officer. Andrew joined ABG as Head of Corporate Development and Investor Relations in 2010 and has been instrumental in transitioning ABG to a public company and more recently has led the company wide Operational Review which has identified over $185 million of potential cost savings initiatives.
Prior to ABG, Andrew spent over 13 years at JP Morgan Cazenove where as part of the Corporate Finance team he advised a range of mining and other companies in their capital raising activities and other strategic objectives.
Andrew will retain his existing responsibilities in addition to those of his new role. Jaco Maritz, who assumed the role of Acting Chief Financial Officer earlier this year, will revert to his original position of Vice President, Finance.
Brad Gordon, ABG’s Chief Executive Officer, said, “Andrew has been an integral part of the management team of ABG over the past three years. I believe that with his skills and experience he will add significant value as CFO at what is a critical time for the Company as I restructure the senior team to build on the platform provided by a high quality asset base and to achieve consistent operational delivery. At the same time, I would like to thank Jaco for all of his efforts as Acting CFO this year and he will remain a key member of the Finance team alongside Andrew.”
