BlueOcean’s Pure Polar on its way to Europe
BlueOcean NutraSciences Inc. (TSXV: BOC) (“BlueOcean”) announced that it has received its first order from a distributor in the European Union for its consumer shrimp oil products, Pure Polar(R) Omega-3 Shrimp Oil, Sport AXTM and Joint AXTM.
Pure Polar is a blend of omega-3s, phospholipids and astaxanthin with a content that has 2 times more omega-3 EPA and DHA, and 10 times more natural astaxanthin than standard krill oil brands, as well as phospholipids for superior absorption over standard fish oils. The product is in the form of soft gel capsule, which prevent fishy aftertaste or burps after consumption.
BlueOcean’s order results from efforts to identify and meet with credible distributors in Germany and EU in early 2017. This purchase order marks the beginning distribution for the Company’s first in the world shrimp oil based consumer supplements, in markets beyond North America. The European omega-3 market represents over 20% of global omega-3 sales, with the European supplements category valued at $1Bn. The Company continues its efforts to expand distribution in North America, Europe and Asia.
BlueOcean CEO, Dr. Marvin Heuer commented, “The European market is very aware of the benefits of products like omega-3s and krill oils, and by introducing our unique shrimp oil products, we hope to capitalize on our strong product features and a knowledgeable European consumer base. We also continue our efforts to identify distributors in Asia, which has a rapidly growing supplement industry. Last week we closed our Canadian distributor, and continue to work towards closing more retail distribution in the US.”
BlueOcean NutraSciences Inc. is a Canadian publicly-listed company whose mission is to develop effective, innovative and sustainable products from Natural Sources, to improve the lives of its customers. BlueOcean’s first specialty ingredient is its patent protected shrimp oil which is the base for its current three consumer brands. Shrimp oil is made from sustainably certified North Atlantic coldwater shrimp shells (the by-product of the cooked and peeled shrimp process) and contains phospholipid bound Omega-3 fatty acids and over 40 times more natural astaxanthin compared to krill oil ingredients.
Shrimp oil’s unique nutritional properties enables the ingredient to make numerous health claims across a wide range of markets, including the $4B Omega-3 heart health market, the $9B joint health market and the $10B sports supplement market. BlueOcean markets its shrimp oil ingredient through a number of consumer brands that are formulated to target these specific markets.

BlueOcean currently markets its shrimp oil under three consumer brands: Pure Polar(R) Omega-3 Shrimp Oil, Joint AXTM and Sport AXTM. Products may be purchased online at purepolarshrimp.com, joint-ax.com and sport-ax.com.
Astaxanthin is sold as an antioxidant and has been recommended for the treatment of inflammation, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, “brain attack” (stroke), high cholesterol, and an eye condition called age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
Astaxanthin resembles the carotene of carrots and is touted as the next wonder antioxidant. Astaxanthin also gives salmon flesh its unique color. It is abundant is krill, which are small crustaceans and are found in all the world’s oceans.
Wild Pacific salmon, especially sockeye salmon, have high astaxanthin content. However, one has to eat about 6 ounces (165 grams) daily to get a 3.6 milligram dose.
Over the last few years krill oil has been marketed as the ultimate source of astaxanthin but laboratory results show BlueOcean’s shrimp oil contains ten times more astaxanthin than the leading krill oil brand.
