K+S Aktiengesellschaft: Current Statement on Uralkali Comments
July 30, 2013 (Source: K+S Aktiengesellschaft) — A competitor of our Potash and Magnesium Products business unit – Russian Uralkali – has today announced its exit from the sales organisation BPC which it jointly operates with the Belarusian Belaruskali. The company wants to market its products in future via its own sales organisation.
This announcement in combination with further statements from Uralkali, which cannot be verified by us, caused significant irritations. The prices for potash fertilizers spread in the media are not understandable for us and, from our point of view, do not reflect the current supply and demand situation.
The positive medium- and long-term trends for potash fertilizers remain unchanged. A comprehensive valuation of the current situation is not possible for us at present. We will monitor further developments very closely.
