About Tom Wilson

Tom Wilson has spent over three decades focussed on zirconium supply chain and manufacturing issues. With his degree in chemistry he became interested in the industrial application of zirconium in the early 1980s, developing a new zirconium compound that significantly improved the fracking process. In the 1990s he co-founded a zirconium industry group in the USA and became chief chemist and director of plant design for a subsidiary of Rio Tinto Zinc. In the early 2000s Tom joined Australian company Astron building a plant in China, which was the first to produce high quality zirconium chemicals for various industries. After its takeover by Emerys, Tom has consulted with a variety of companies, working on several zirconium R&D projects which resulted in new markets and product improvements.
